[Leapmotor intends to participate in the A-round financing of China FAW's New Power Group] On September 17, China FAW and Leapmotor held a signing ceremony in Huzhou, Zhejiang on September 17. FAW New Power (Changchun) Technology Co., Ltd. and China Automotive Xinneng Battery Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China FAW, signed an investment letter of intent and a technical cooperation agreement with Leapmotor respectively. According to the investment letter of intent signed by Qixin Power and Leapmotor, Leapmotor plans to participate in the A-round financing of Qixin Power as a strategic investor to strengthen the in-depth collaboration between the two parties in key powertrain areas. The two parties will further explore and promote strategic synergy and resource sharing in powertrain products and technologies such as hybrid engines, electric drive systems, and range extenders. According to the technical cooperation agreement signed by CATIC New Energy and Leapmotor, the two parties will jointly promote forward-looking battery technology research and the implementation of standardized battery cells. Carry out R&D collaboration around solid-state batteries, lithium-rich manganese-based batteries, sodium-ion batteries, iron-lithium ultra-fast charging and other cutting-edge directions, jointly promote the directional development and product application of standardized battery cells, and on this basis, jointly explore battery recycling and overseas industrial chain collaboration.

[Industry insiders: In the medium and long term, sodium batteries will replace some low-end lithium batteries. The popularity of all-solid-state batteries depends on industry chain cost control] September 3rd, at the "2026 World Power Battery Conference" held today, the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Power Battery Industry Development Index (2026)". Qu Guochun, director of the Equipment Industry Development Center, introduced that the power battery industry technology is adapting to multiple routes in layers, and the next generation of batteries is accelerating. In the short term, liquid lithium batteries are still the main product, and their performance continues to iterate; in the medium term, the three-line parallel pattern of "liquid lithium batteries + sodium batteries + semi-solid batteries" continues to evolve. Sodium-ion batteries will replace part of the low-end lithium battery market, and semi-solid batteries will become an upgrade solution for mid-to-high-end models after full commercialization. In the long term, the popularity of all-solid-state batteries depends on cost control in the industry chain. As the manufacturing process continues to mature and material and manufacturing costs drop significantly, all-solid-state batteries have the basic conditions to penetrate into the mid-range vehicle market.
