[CRISPR therapy can reduce "bad cholesterol" and triglycerides] September 9th, the first human clinical trial jointly conducted by the Cleveland Clinic, Boston CRISPR Therapeutics, and the New Zealand Clinical Research Center showed that CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing therapy can safely and effectively reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, commonly known as "bad cholesterol") and triglycerides in patients with refractory dyslipidemia during a one-year follow-up period. The research results have been announced at the 2026 European Society of Cardiology Annual Meeting and simultaneously published in the new issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
