A "Street Fighter 2" SNES cartridge released in 1992 and still in factory-sealed condition was recently sold at a Goldin auction for $103,700. The price includes buyer's premium. The hammer price of this cassette was US$85,000. After adding the buyer's premium, the final transaction price rose to US$103,700. The auction item corresponds to Capcom's classic fighting game "Street Fighter 2" and is not a Mario-themed work that has been more common in high-priced game auctions in recent years.
In recent years, retro game auctions have repeatedly seen high-priced transactions, with the prices of many SNES games reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many of the auction items are related to Nintendo's Mario, including its early independent works and different versions.
This transaction comes as the "Street Fighter" series has once again received attention due to the new live-action movie.
