Switch 2 exclusive games quickly appear on iPhone and PC platforms, Nintendo may face a new round of emulator challenges

📅 2026-10-28

Abstract:

Less than a week has passed since the first software-only jailbreak solution for Nintendo Switch 2 was made public. The developer community has already demonstrated the results of a number of Switch 2 exclusive games running on non-Nintendo hardware. The rapid progress has attracted attention in the industry.

Developer Will Faust recently released a demonstration video showing that "Mario Kart World" can be started and run on iPhone 18 Pro through a private version of the nxnative project. nxnative was originally designed to allow original Switch games to run natively on Apple Silicon devices, including Mac and iPhone. The day before, Faust had also demonstrated the running of the game on macOS. However, due to problems such as missing models and abnormal colors in the screen at that time, some netizens had doubted the authenticity of the demonstration.

According to Faust, the iPhone version occupies slightly less than 6.5GB of physical memory when running, thanks to a file-mapped memory scheme similar to swap space. In order to support Switch 2, he also made additional adaptations for the NVN2 graphics interface adopted by Nintendo's new generation console. However, he also said that the relevant code will not be disclosed.

At the same time, on the PC platform, another developer Sheepish also demonstrated the latest results in Switch 2 game simulation. He revealed that the private version of the Eden simulator can already launch "Splatoon Raiders" and enter the character selection interface. However, the current simulation effect is still quite rudimentary, with problems such as obvious lagging, lack of vertical synchronization, and many functions that have not yet been implemented.

Sheepish said it used AI-assisted tools in its development process and hinted that the results may be released to the public later this week. In addition, the breaking account Centro LEAKS also shared a picture of "DK Bananza" running on PC, but the identity of the specific developer has not yet been confirmed, and more technical details are lacking.

The report pointed out that most of the currently disclosed content is still in the early stage of technical verification. The outside world is not yet able to independently verify the authenticity and stability of these results, nor can it be judged based on this whether Switch 2 games have broad compatibility. At the same time, the just-released jailbreak solution itself is still a "wired jailbreak" form. It has not yet implemented kernel-level vulnerability exploitation, and there is no mature custom firmware support.

Nevertheless, it took less than a week from the release of the jailbreak tool to the launch of the exclusive game on other platforms. This speed of progress still surprised many observers.

Given that Nintendo has taken a tough stance against emulators and piracy in the past, it is widely expected that the company may respond. Previously, Nintendo had filed a lawsuit against the Yuzu emulator development team; in a recent case, a US court also ordered a Reddit moderator involved in the spread of Switch piracy to pay Nintendo $4.5 million in compensation. As Switch 2 cracking and emulation technology continues to develop, the game between Nintendo and the developer community over control of the game ecosystem may further escalate.
