Abstract:
Apple has begun to implement purchase quantity limits on iPhone Duo sales in the US market. According to information displayed on Apple’s official website and Apple Store app, the upper limit for the number of iPhone Duo purchased by U.S. consumers at a time is now two. If the limit is exceeded, the order will not be completed.
When a user attempts to purchase more than two iPhone Duos on Apple's official website or Apple Store app, the system will pop up a prompt requiring the number of iPhone Duos in the order to be adjusted to two or less before the checkout can continue. The prompt message shows: "Each customer can purchase up to 2 iPhone Duo units. Please adjust the total number of iPhone Duo units in the order before checkout."

It is unclear whether this restriction already existed when the pre-sale opened on October 16. Some Reddit users said the restriction was a later addition. However, some users said that they had successfully ordered four iPhone Duo units before, while other users said that they were restricted by the upper limit of two units from the beginning, so the specific implementation time cannot be confirmed.
In fact, Apple has clearly stipulated that each consumer can purchase a maximum of two iPhone Duo in markets such as China, Singapore and Hong Kong. However, in the U.S. market, Apple’s official website did not publicly state this restriction in advance. The system will only display relevant prompts when users try to add more than two devices to the shopping cart.
Market demand for iPhone Duo has been extremely strong since pre-sale began. In just a few minutes after the pre-sale began, the first-day delivery inventory was quickly sold out, and a large number of consumers received an estimated delivery date of November or even December. As Apple continues to adjust its supply chain and production capacity, some users have recently found that their estimated delivery time has been advanced.
Analysts believe that Apple's introduction of purchase quantity restrictions in the United States at this time may help alleviate scalpers' hoarding and resale phenomena, and allow more consumers to have the opportunity to obtain the company's first foldable screen iPhone. Although supply remains tight, Apple may be able to further shorten the waiting time for some orders in the coming weeks as production capacity is gradually increased.
