Abstract:
EA Motive's "Iron Man" game, which has not released any new information for a long time, had unfinished game footage leaked online on Friday, and EA later confirmed the authenticity of the video. The video, which lasts about two and a half minutes and bears the "AUG26 TEST" watermark, first appeared on the ResetEra forum and quickly spread to Reddit and other social media platforms.
The video shows Tony Stark flying over the city, engaging enemies on the ground and in the air, and heading to what looks like a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. The graphics are clearly still in the early stages of development, with some textures rough and cutscenes unfinished. However, judging from the content exposed so far, the flight and combat systems of the game are quite complete, especially considering that there may still be a long time before the official release.
EA chose to confirm the authenticity of the leaked content instead of taking a similar approach to Rockstar and handling the leaked video by issuing a DMCA copyright takedown notice. EA issued a response through the official “Marvel’s Iron Man” X account. This account has not been updated since it was created in 2023.
EA wrote in a statement: "Well, things didn't go as planned. But now you know that, and we have more to show. See you when we're ready."
EA and Marvel announced this game as early as October 2022. The work is developed by EA Motive. This is a single-player third-person game. The development team is from Montreal, Canada and was responsible for "Dead Space: Remastered". News about the game has been limited since its announcement, and the long silence has fueled speculation about whether the project is in trouble.
While the leak caught EA off guard, it also brought the game back attention it hadn't had in years before - players were once again talking about an Iron Man game. EA seems to be planning to take advantage of this wave of popularity, or in other words, let the Iron Man continue to "fly".
