Abstract:
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson recently revealed the game length of "Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA 6) to the New York Times. According to him, he completed a game process in February this year, which took about 80 hours in total. This process includes the main plot, as well as some optional objectives with actual narrative impact.

For comparison, the completion time of the main storyline of "GTA 4" and "GTA 5" is about 30 hours, while Rockstar's previous benchmark work "Red Dead Redemption 2" takes about 50 to 60 hours. Considering that Nielsen himself is very familiar with the game content, it may take longer for ordinary players to play for the first time.
The content scale of "GTA 6" is large, which is also one of the important reasons for the long game duration. According to reports, the map area of this game is about three times that of "Red Dead Redemption 2", and Rockstar has also added a lot of explorable content to it. The series of classic gameplay gyms will return for the first time after "San Andreas". In addition, players can also experience kayaking, skydiving, off-road motorcycles, deep-sea diving and other activities.

Nilson said that the optional objectives he mentioned are not simply used to fill the game time, but will have a real impact on the relationships between characters and the outcomes of some missions. As a result, player choices and exploration may further alter the gaming experience.
Nilson himself also hopes that players can slow down and truly integrate into the game world, instead of blindly chasing the main plot. For players who pursue a complete experience, 80 hours may only be regarded as a basic length of time, and the actual play time is likely to exceed 100 hours.
"GTA 6" is expected to be launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms on November 19.
