Users can lock capacity but don't try:
Apple locks the battery capacity mainly due to transportation and air freight requirements. Some airline restrictions or regional regulations do not require batteries exceeding a specific capacity to be transported by air. Since other models are not equipped with single-cell batteries exceeding 20Wh, they do not provide the battery capacity locking function, so this is an exclusive feature of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Users can also manually lock the battery capacity in the settings, but please do not try it unless necessary (not even for testing). This function is also used for after-sales repairs or sending equipment. When this function is turned on, it may take 14 days to restore the maximum battery capacity. Users can only use a smaller battery capacity before it cannot be turned off.

For iPhone 18 Pro Max, this function can be turned on in Settings, General, Transfer or Reset, and Prepare for Shipment.
