Google announced the launch of a series of new artificial intelligence voice functions based on Gemini for its Workspace office ecosystem, officially integrating conversational voice interaction into its three core products: Gmail, Google Docs and Google Keep. In the future, users will no longer need to type tediously manually, and can complete multiple complex tasks such as email retrieval, document drafting, and structured note organization directly through voice conversations.
In Google Docs, users can now create and edit document drafts directly through voice commands. This feature is specially optimized for processing long sentences and multi-tasking instructions, and supports data extraction across applications. For example, when dictating, users can directly ask the system to call their personal resume information in Google Drive, extract the event schedule from a specific email and place it at the top of the document, and even ask them to add a humorous anecdote at the end of the text. If the user temporarily changes their needs while speaking, AI can accurately understand and adjust the content in real time in the same conversation flow. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that this feature allows users to complete the entire process from first draft generation to fine polishing using just their voice.
In terms of Gmail, Google has introduced a voice interaction experience optimized for inbox scenarios. Users only need to tap the microphone button and talk to Gemini to ask questions naturally and quickly dig into the deep information of the email. For example, directly asking for the next flight time, Airbnb booking verification code or doctor's appointment time, AI will automatically scan and refine the email content to provide accurate answers. This form completely breaks the limitations of traditional keyword retrieval and filtering tags, turning a huge and chaotic inbox into a knowledge base that can be directly called by voice.
The lightweight note-taking tool Google Keep has also received an upgrade to its AI-powered voice function. Users only need to dictate the scattered thoughts or notes in their minds, and the system can not only automatically complete the voice transcription, but also use AI's understanding ability to intelligently summarize, format and organize them into well-organized structured notes or to-do lists.
This feature update continues Google’s previous route of exploring AI dictation tools in input methods and multiple applications.
