Abstract:
Google announced that it is rolling out a new Gmail Live feature to users of the paid version of Google Workspace. This voice interaction service based on the Gemini model has been released in phases on October 15, covering Android and iOS platforms. The entire deployment process is expected to last up to two weeks.

Gmail Live is positioned as a low-latency, conversational mailbox search experience. Instead of typing in keywords or manually scrolling through emails, users can simply ask questions via voice, get the information they need directly from their Gmail mailbox, and get responses via voice.
Unlike traditional email search, Gmail Live uses the Gemini artificial intelligence model to understand email content and context. For example, users can ask questions such as "Where is my order now?" "When is the next mandatory training due?" "What update has the manager recently sent?" or "Which gate will tomorrow's flight depart from?" and the system will automatically generate answers based on relevant emails in the mailbox.
To increase the credibility of the results, Gmail Live also displays the source of the information when answering questions. Each round of conversation will be accompanied by an associated email card, allowing users to quickly view the original email content and understand which email records the answer comes from.
Google also added voice personalization options to this feature. Users can now choose the system voice themselves to get an interactive experience that is more in line with their personal preferences.
For management policies, Gmail Live will be enabled by default for eligible Workspace organizations. For enterprises and institutions that have already obtained access to the Workspace Gemini feature, administrators can activate the feature without additional configuration. At the same time, the service will still adhere to existing smart features and personalization policies.
This opening covers multiple Google Workspace packages, including Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Frontline Plus and Google Workspace for Nonprofits. In addition, this feature is also available to users of additional services such as Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, AI Expanded Access, AI Ultra Access, and Google AI Pro for Education.
In addition to enterprise users, individual consumers subscribing to Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra are also included in the scope of support.
Currently, Gmail Live is only available to users in the United States whose account language is set to English (United States). Users can start a voice session simply by clicking on the "Live" entry in the Gmail app search bar. On first use, you will be asked to grant microphone permission.
With the launch of Gmail Live, Google is further integrating Gemini into the Workspace ecosystem. Following the previous launch of features such as AI Inbox, email summarization, and automatic task extraction, Gmail is gradually transforming from a traditional email tool into an information management platform with artificial intelligence as the core, helping users obtain and process key content in their mailbox faster through natural language interaction.
