Google announced that the generative artificial intelligence digital wardrobe (Wardrobe) function previously mapped in Google Photos is now officially available to all iOS and Android users in the United States, Brazil and India. This function is directly inspired by the smart wardrobe in which the heroine Cher uses a computer to choose outfits in the 1995 classic youth comedy movie "Clueless". It can automatically convert clothing photos in the user's album into an interactive digital wardrobe.
According to the official introduction, this function uses an AI model to deeply scan and analyze photos taken by users in the past few years, intelligently identify the clothing, shoes, accessories and bags that appear in them, and automatically classify and organize them by tops, trousers, skirts, jewelry and other sub-categories. Users can not only browse their own items in the digital wardrobe and rediscover old clothes that have been buried in the corner of the wardrobe for a long time, but can also freely select up to 6 items for online cross-match combinations. It even supports the generation of virtual try-on videos and mood boards, making it easy to plan daily outfits in advance for different scenarios such as commuting and vacation, or share them with friends for advice.
In terms of privacy protection, Google particularly emphasizes that when the system scans and analyzes users' clothing preferences and clothing data, all relevant information is protected by strict client-side and privacy agreements and will never be shared with any third-party organizations or retail advertisers. To use this feature, users need to turn on face grouping and ensure that there are a sufficient number of personal photos in the album so that the AI algorithm can accurately extract personal clothing features.
In addition to the comprehensive expansion of digital wardrobe functions, Google Photos also launched a number of AI and photo editing utility tools in this update.
