iPhone Duo initial supply is tight. Apple reminds consumers in some areas not to expect on-site purchases

Abstract:

As Apple’s first foldable screen mobile phone iPhone Duo will be officially launched on October 23, Apple recently issued a reminder to consumers that due to pre-sale demand far exceeding expectations, the inventory available to on-site consumers on the first day of sale will be very limited, and related models are expected to be sold out in a short period of time.

Apple said that Apple retail stores in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom will provide a small amount of on-site sales inventory. Some stores in Italy will also sell ready-made products, but Apple has not announced the specific list of stores participating in sales. In Macau, only a limited number of on-site sales will be open on the day of release.

At the same time, markets such as France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates will adopt stricter sales arrangements. In these countries and regions, consumers cannot go directly to Apple retail stores to buy iPhone Duo as in the past, but must reserve a pick-up time in-store through Apple's online store in advance.

However, Apple's online store still prompts users to make reservation inquiries later, so the outside world is not yet sure whether new pick-up reservation quotas will be opened on the day of release, which also brings some uncertainty to consumers who plan to purchase the phone for the first time.

Apple pointed out that there are two main reasons for restricting on-site purchases in some areas. One is to control the scale of store customer flow during the sale period to avoid overcrowding; the other is to curb the hoarding and resale behavior of scalpers. For the same consideration, Apple has previously announced a purchase restriction policy for iPhone Duo, and each consumer can only purchase a maximum of two devices.

For users who have participated in the pre-sale, there is good news. Previously, due to the huge order volume, the estimated delivery time for some consumers was once postponed to January next year. However, as the supply chain and logistics arrangements are gradually optimized, the delivery dates of many pre-orders have been adjusted in advance, and some users are expected to get the new phones earlier than originally expected.

As Apple’s first foldable screen product, iPhone Duo is equipped with a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO OLED internal screen with a resolution of 1878×2670 and supports a 120Hz refresh rate; the exterior is equipped with a 5.4-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1398×2034 and also supports a 120Hz high refresh rate display.

In terms of hardware, the machine uses the A20 Pro chip, is equipped with 12GB of memory, and has a storage capacity of up to 2TB. The imaging system includes a 48-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel external-screen front camera, and a 4-megapixel under-screen internal screen camera.

In terms of battery life, iPhone Duo has a built-in 4883mAh battery, supports 25W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging, is IP68 dustproof and waterproof, and comes pre-installed with the iOS 27.1 operating system.

In terms of price, iPhone Duo starts at US$1,999 in the US market, €2,299 in the German market, and £1,999 in the UK market.

Judging from the current situation, the market popularity of iPhone Duo in the early stage of its launch is still far beyond Apple’s expectations. For consumers who have not participated in the pre-sale and plan to go directly to the store to purchase on the day of launch, confirming the stock status or reservation qualifications in advance may be the key to successfully purchasing this new folding screen phone.
