Abstract:
Rockstar Games may plan to launch a PC version of "Grand Theft Auto VI" (GTA 6) a few months after the console version is released. GamesBeat cited four game industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans as saying that the PC version is targeted for the first quarter of 2027; the sources requested anonymity to avoid affecting business relationships. Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment before the report was published. Publisher Take-Two and developer Rockstar have not officially announced the PC version or its release date, so this timetable remains unconfirmed industry news.

The currently publicly confirmed versions by Rockstar are the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, which are scheduled to be released on November 19, 2026. If the PC version is launched between January and March 2027 as rumored, there may only be a few months between the console version and the PC version. However, at one point in the GamesBeat report, the release year of the console version is written as 2027, which is inconsistent with the rest of the content and Rockstar’s official date of November 19, 2026. It should be a typographical error in the year.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said when talking about the PC version this year that Rockstar usually releases large-scale works on the console platform first, giving priority to serving core players before considering other users; he did not confirm that the PC version was being developed, nor did he commit to a specific release time. Rockstar's past works have usually been released in stages: "Red Dead Redemption 2" landed on PC more than a year after the console debut, and the PC version of "GTA 5" was about a year and seven months later than the console version. If this rumor is true, the PC port of GTA 6 will be significantly faster than the previous game.
GamesBeat said that the early launch of the PC version will not only expand the potential player base, but also help to undertake Rockstar's layout around creator tools and online role-playing gameplay. Rockstar previously acquired Cfx.re, the development team of the well-known "GTA 5" role-playing server platform FiveM, and such community activities have long been dominated by the PC platform. However, the game is huge in scale and Rockstar has adjusted its release plan many times. The PC version must still meet the quality standards required by the company, and the actual launch time may change.
