Microsoft is further expanding its layout of self-developed artificial intelligence models. On September 4, local time, according to Neowin reports, Microsoft launched MAI-Image-2.6 Flash, a new model optimized for high-frequency image generation tasks, focusing on improving generation speed and cost efficiency. Microsoft said the new model can handle large numbers of build requests at a lower cost while maintaining high image quality.

From the perspective of product positioning, MAI-Image-2.6 Flash also reflects that Microsoft is gradually getting rid of dependence on a single external model supplier. Microsoft currently uses both self-developed models and third-party models, and selects appropriate solutions based on different tasks. For high-frequency applications such as image generation, if it can reduce the cost of inference through self-developed models, Microsoft will have the opportunity to further improve the commercial viability of related services.
