Abstract:
On the day of the U.S. midterm elections, technology tycoon Elon Musk posted a brief post on X: "Vote 'red' today!" However, hours after the Democratic Party won an overwhelming victory in the midterm elections, Musk's previous post calling for voting for the Republican Party disappeared from his X account homepage timeline.
Early on Wednesday morning, as the election results became clear, he seemed to have changed his tone, mocking himself on the X platform for spending money to support his failure in the mid-term elections.
"Looks like the space laser I used to interfere with the election didn't work this time," he wrote. In another post, he said: "The space data center is looking pretty enticing right now."
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO is the top individual donor in this midterm election. He has invested more than $440 million in support of Republican candidates and often uses the X platform to mock Democratic opponents.
Texas - where Musk has moved the registrations of his two companies SpaceX and Tesla - has become a key focus of his attention. He reportedly spent $224 million supporting Republicans during the state's campaign; in addition, he called Democrat James Talarico, now a senator-elect, a "far leftist," a "disgusting guy" and a "complete evil" on the X platform. These posts are still visible.
The results of the U.S. midterm elections may have a major impact on Musk, involving many aspects such as supervision, contracts and policies. Shares of both Tesla and SpaceX fell on Wednesday as investors digested the election results. The stocks of data center companies are also in the green.
