Abstract:
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently shared a video through social platforms: The Pokémon Company team visited the Apple campus. Pikachu "moved freely" in the park and met with Apple CEO-elect John Ternus and Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara.
It is reported that the Pokémon team is heading to San Francisco to participate in the Pokémon World Championships, which will open on August 28. While at the Apple Park, Cook, Ternus and Tsunekazu Ishihara accompanied Pikachu around the park. Cook joked in the post that the day's schedule included introducing the Pokémon team to Ternus, exchanging game topics, and politely asking Pikachu not to enter the park pool; however, only two of the three tasks were completed.
The video also shows Ishihara Tsunekazu releasing "Fruit Gnawing Bugs" through "Pokémon GO", adding a strong gaming atmosphere to this interaction.
The Pokémon Company has not stated the specific purpose of this visit to the Apple campus, so it is not yet confirmed whether the two parties have conducted business discussions on the future development of Pokémon IP on the Apple platform. It is also possible that it was just for Pikachu to relax briefly before heading to San Francisco.
The 2026 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championship will be held from August 28th to 30th. Although Apple is not participating in the event, the App Store currently offers a variety of Nintendo and Pokémon-related games, including "Pokémon GO", "Pokémon TCG Pocket", "Pokémon Champions" and "Pokémon Sleep".
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Cook and Pikachu have met. Cook had previously interacted with Pikachu during his visit to Japan and the opening of Apple's Ginza store, so the meeting at the Apple campus was more like a relaxed brand exchange than a clear signal of business cooperation.
