Porsche toughens VW's new round of layoffs plan: no adjustments to existing plans

📅 2026-09-21

Abstract:

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters told employees that the company currently has no plans to further cut about 4,000 jobs, and the existing restructuring plan will not change. It was previously reported that Volkswagen’s supervisory board believes that in addition to the 9,000 layoff positions that have been agreed upon, Porsche still has about 4,100 positions that are redundant and may need to be further reduced.

In this regard, Leiters made it clear in an internal memo: "Porsche has no plans to cut an additional 4,000 jobs." He also pointed out that the currently implemented restructuring plan has been approved by Porsche's own supervisory board, and the company does not expect the plan to be adjusted.

This means that at this stage, Porsche will still promote personnel and cost adjustments in accordance with the previously determined restructuring framework, and has not launched a new round of large-scale layoffs.
