Abstract:
Overseas developer Makr (@makrotasuss) demonstrated a quite special system transplantation result: successfully enabling Redmi Note 12 4G to launch iOS 16 and making the relevant project code public.

Judging from the demo shared by the developer, this Redmi phone has been able to enter Apple's iconic iOS interface. The "About This Mac" page in the system settings shows that the device model is iPhone X and the system version is iOS 16.7.16.

According to the GitHub project,
the developer transplanted Apple's open source XNU kernel to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 powered by Redmi Note 12 4G On the platform, iOS 16.7.16 user-mode components from iPhone X are also used, including SpringBoard desktop, system services, etc.

The entire project continues to be developed based on the previous iOS porting results of Redmi Note 10 Pro, and has been adapted to the CPU architecture, memory management, display output, etc. of Snapdragon 685. The developer stated in a technical document on October 18 that the device can already boot to the iOS lock screen in about 3 minutes.
Follow-up news also showed that the touch screen and physical buttons that were originally unable to work have been gradually adjusted.

Currently, the related project is open source on GitHub and is named
ios-topaz
