Abstract:
Anthropic is SpaceX’s largest single customer, contributing more than one-third of revenue to Musk’s AI and rocket company in the third quarter, people familiar with the matter said. SpaceX said in a regulatory filing last week that about 34.5% of its revenue last quarter came from a customer that paid its AI unit. This department is now called Super Intelligence and mainly provides computing power services. The document referred to the customer only as "Customer B" at the time. However, people familiar with the matter revealed that this customer is Anthropic.

SpaceX
SpaceX’s revenue from Anthropic now exceeds payments from the U.S. federal government. Previously, the U.S. federal government has been SpaceX’s largest single customer. This also highlights the risks posed by SpaceX's reliance on Anthropic, because according to the terms of the contract, Anthropic can withdraw from the cooperation agreement between the two parties as early as next year.
This revenue comes from the agreement Anthropic signed with SpaceX earlier this year. Under the agreement, Anthropic will use computing power provided by SpaceX’s data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Musk is gradually transforming SpaceX's AI business into a so-called "emerging cloud service provider" (neocloud), renting data center computing power to customers such as Anthropic and Google.
The prospectus shows that Anthropic has agreed to pay SpaceX up to US$120.5 billion during the contract period until 2029. Starting in December this year, Anthropic's monthly payments will reach approximately $3.1 billion. However, starting from January 2027 and March 2027, Anthropic can give 90 days’ notice to cancel the relevant contract with SpaceX.
As of press time, Anthropic declined to comment. SpaceX has not yet commented.
