Abstract:
Apple is expected to officially open pre-orders for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Saturday, September 12, one day later than usual. According to Apple's past release rhythm, new iPhones usually open pre-orders on the first Friday after the new product launch. However, September 11 this year coincides with the anniversary of the "9·11" terrorist attacks, so Apple may deliberately avoid this date.

This news was first disclosed by the German media Macwelt, and was later supplemented by the breaking account ShrimpApplePro. The account stated that at least the iPhone 18 Pro series will be available for pre-order at 0:00 a.m. on September 12, Pacific Time in the United States. Calculated according to other time zones in the United States, Eastern Time is 3 am, Central Time is 2 am, and Mountain Time is 1 am.
Apple has not officially announced the pre-order time, but multiple sources point to September 12th. If this arrangement is true, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be officially launched on Friday, September 18. Apple has repeatedly avoided launching important products on commemorative dates in the past, so this adjustment is likely related to the special date of September 11th.
Apple’s new product release schedule this year is also different from previous years. The company is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max first, while the standard iPhone 18 and other non-Pro models may be delayed until the spring of 2027. At the same time, Apple’s first folding screen iPhone is said to not be launched simultaneously with the Pro series. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman previously said that the device may not be released until October at the earliest, so its pre-order time may also be later than the iPhone 18 Pro series.
Currently, the iPhone 18 Pro series has been officially unveiled at Apple’s autumn conference. The two phones use 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays respectively, are equipped with A20 Pro chips, and are equipped with smaller smart islands, longer battery life, and main cameras that support variable aperture. Apple said that the iPhone 18 Pro Max can be used for up to 30 hours on a single charge, and the iPhone 18 Pro can be charged to 50% in 15 minutes.
In the US market, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at US$1,199 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at US$1,299. Both models offer a 2TB storage capacity option for the first time. The new phone is available in dark black, silver, glacier blue and burgundy colors, and the color matching between the aluminum alloy area of the rear cover of the fuselage and the ceramic shield glass has also been improved.
If the pre-order time is finally determined to be September 12, consumers will need to place their orders in the early morning of Saturday instead of rushing to buy in the early morning of Friday as usual. Apple usually arranges shipments based on demand after pre-orders are opened, and popular configurations may soon have longer waiting times.
