"Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" Steam page no longer labels Denuvo encryption

📅 2026-10-08

Abstract:

After the Steam database page of "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" was updated on September 30, the label Denuvo Anti-Tamper anti-tampering technology was removed. Since the game has not yet been released, this change can only mean that Denuvo is no longer listed in the store information. It cannot prove that the software has actually been removed from the development version, nor can it guarantee that it will not be re-added in the final version. As of the time of the report, neither the developer nor the publisher has explained the reason for the adjustment.

The game was jointly developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and published by Amazon Game Studios. It is a reinterpretation of the original "Tomb Raider" in 1996. It uses Unreal Engine 5 and is scheduled to be launched on February 12, 2027. According to the official introduction, players will play Lara Croft, explore the Peruvian jungle, Greek ruins, Egyptian deserts and a mysterious island in the Mediterranean to find fragments of the artifact "Sion", and combine climbing, hook-rope movement, mechanism puzzle solving and combat gameplay.

The current price on Steam is US$59.99 for the standard version and US$69.99 for the deluxe version. The deluxe version can enter the game two days in advance.

Denuvo is provided by Irdeto. It is often used by game publishers to reduce the risk of cracking in the early stages of game release. It is also often questioned by some players as it may affect the performance of the PC version. Some players have speculated that the publisher may rejoin Denuvo before release, while others have speculated that the removal is related to pre-order performance; these claims have not been officially confirmed. The game is still months away from release, and DRM arrangements may still change.
