Abstract:
As the Ubuntu 26.10 development cycle comes to an end, Canonical has officially announced a new official default desktop wallpaper codenamed "Stonking Stingray". According to the development roadmap, this visual update with the mascot as the core design marks the arrival of the system UI freezing stage, and also indicates that this version has fully entered the sprint stage before the official release.
According to the release schedule announced by Canonical, Ubuntu 26.10 will be available to the public for beta image download in late September, and the final official stable version is scheduled to be pushed to global users on October 15, 2026. Users who have updated the latest development build version in the test channel can now be the first to experience this new set of default wallpapers through system updates:
