On January 29, Toyota Industries Corporation (Toyota Automotive Machinery) of the Toyota Group announced that there were irregularities in the testing of fuel engines produced by the company. On the same day, Toyota Group stopped the supply of 10 models including the Land Cruiser. Later, Toyota Industrial Corporation President Koichi Ito bowed and apologized at a press conference that day.

Prior to this, affected by the previous crash test fraud incident, Toyota's Daihatsu Motor officially submitted an application to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on January 24 to recall a total of 322,740 vehicles of two models.

In addition to Toyota, Japan's Panasonic subsidiary also admitted that it had been counterfeiting for decades. Company officials publicly bowed and apologized, but they reiterated that they would not stop shipments or carry out recalls.

Among the 22 production bases of Mitsubishi Electric in Japan, 17 had data falsification and other improper activities, involving a total of 197 cases. Of these incidents, 112 were intentional and 62 involved managers.
