SIE has upgraded the system firmware of the PS5 test channel. This upgrade mainly brings enhancements to the controller and other aspects. It is expected that the test solution will be pushed to global users in the future, and the specific time is unknown. According to the official blog, this system firmware upgrade first brings audio enhancements to the built-in microphone and speaker of the dual-sensing controller. Updated device software for DualSense and DualSenseEdge wireless controllers to improve their audio functionality.
Controller speaker enhancements. Controller speakers are now capable of outputting sound at a higher volume, allowing game sounds and voice chat audio to be heard more clearly.
Improved noise reduction. The microphone input quality of these controllers has been improved thanks to a new AI machine learning model. Background noise from button presses and game audio is suppressed, making the voice chat experience even better. Install the system software beta and update your controller device software to enjoy clearer sound quality when using your controller microphone for voice chat.
You may experience the controller speakers sounding louder with this upgrade. The volume of the controller speakers can be adjusted from Control Center.
Shared screen interaction aspect. Players watching a shared screen in full-screen mode can now interact with the host's game using pointers and emojis.
Viewers can move the pointer on the shared screen, send hints, or draw lines on the screen, allowing specific objects or areas to be highlighted more accurately to better guide the host player.
Viewers can send emoji-based feedback to the host's screen to visually encourage and celebrate game action.
Note: This feature is available by default, but the host can turn it off in the shared screen settings. Both hosts and viewers must participate during the beta period to use this feature.
In addition, this update also adds the function of adjusting the brightness of the PS5 power indicator light. It is now possible to adjust the brightness of the PS5 console’s power indicator light. Go to [Settings] > [System] > [Sounds & Lights], and then select [Brightness].
