Recently, BMW officially released official photos of the new 5 Series/i5 Travel Edition. As a derivative model of the new 5 Series,The car also adopts the latest styling design of the BMW family, further increasing the car's practicality. From the appearance, there are slight differences in the design of the front part between the fuel version and the pure electric version of the car.Although the overall shape is basically the same, the design of the front surround of the pure electric version is sharper and more sporty.
But the fuel version adopts a simpler design, with a decorative strip surrounding the iconic double kidney grille, and the heat dissipation vent area below is also smaller than the pure electric version.
From the side, the appearance of these two station wagon models is almost the same. The roof of the new car extends towards the rear of the car and the raised waistline merges at the D-pillar to form the "big butt" of the station wagon. Its shape is relatively rounded, and all are equipped with semi-hidden door handles and new-style closed wheels.
At the rear of the car, the shapes of the two powered versions are basically the same. The taillights adopt a slender design and the internal light source is very simple. The difference is that the rear surround of the fuel version is decorated with silver L-style edging, while the electric version is decorated with a rear diffuser in a different color from the body.
In terms of body size,The length, width and height of the new car are 5060/1900/1515mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2995mm.The rear seats of the car can be folded down in a 4:2:4 ratio. With the rear seats fully folded down, the trunk volume increases from 570 liters to 1,700 liters.
It is worth mentioning that the trunk of the new car adopts a double-layer opening method, which is very convenient.
In terms of interior, there is not much difference in design between the fuel and pure electric versions of the travel version. They are both equipped with curved dual screens and equipped with BMW's latest in-car system, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and a paddle-type electronic shifting mechanism.
In terms of power, the fuel version will launch a gasoline version + 48V mild hybrid, a diesel version + 48V mild hybrid and a plug-in hybrid power system.
As for the pure electric version, the entry-level eDrive40 version will use a rear-mounted single motor with a maximum power of 250 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The 0-100km/h acceleration time is 6.1 seconds and the cruising range is about 483-560 kilometers.
Regrettably,The new car will be specially built for the European and Japanese car markets and will be launched in Europe in May 2024.Therefore, this elegant and practical model will not be available in the Chinese market.
