Microsoft has announced the date and time for a "focussed on the future of Xbox business" program promised last week. According to the official Twitter account, the event will be held in the form of an official Xbox podcast and will feature Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, Xbox President Sarah Bond, and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty.
The event will be held on Xbox’s YouTube channel at 4 a.m. (Beijing time) on February 16.
Prior to this, there were rumors that some Xbox exclusive games might be released on competing console platforms, which caused widespread concern in some communities.
The content of the podcast remains unknown, and Microsoft management has not given any hints.
Meanwhile, Microsoft reported its financial results a few weeks ago, which included a huge increase in revenue from its gaming business thanks to its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
CEO Satya Nadella touted the company's record growth in monthly active users to 200 million and reiterated that "great content is key to the company's growth" and that he has "never been more excited" about the upcoming lineup of games.
Last year, he expressed his desire to move away from console exclusivity entirely if it were within his power. However, we don't know yet if Microsoft will actually go that far.
Microsoft has actually released games on rival consoles, including Minecraft and some older games from Activision Blizzard and Bethesda. The company also publishes all its PC games on Steam, which competes with its own Windows Store.
