Qualcomm and its laptop partners are working hard to ensure that Snapdragon XElite will be available in various devices in the second half of 2024, and there are already rumors that the Snapdragon XElite 2 generation is in development. In terms of specifications, the upcoming chip may have similarities to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, at least in terms of GPU. Both chipsets will apparently use the Adreno830, but the Snapdragon XEliteGen2 is said to use an overclocked version.
We learned through the Korean forum DCInside that Qualcomm plans to use a slightly stronger Adreno830 version in the Snapdragon XElite2 generation. It has been previously rumored that Adreno830 is 10% faster than Apple M2 in 3DMarkWildLifeExtreme, so the successor model of Snapdragon XElite already has a solid foundation to stand out in terms of graphics performance.
In terms of CPU workload, in the multi-core test results of Geekbench6, this new generation chipset tailored for notebook computers is 21% faster than M3. This only shows that the Snapdragon XElite2 generation can improve on the previous generation products.
However, relevant information is currently very scarce. Qualcomm hopes to transition its future chips to the 3nm process, but due to high wafer costs and sustainable yield rates, it is uncertain whether the second generation of Snapdragon XElite will receive the same treatment.
