Last month, the popular indie game "Vampire Survivor" just switched to the Unity engine. However, Unity recently shook up the entire gaming industry by introducing an "installation fee". Although Unity has already made concessions, developer Luca Galante said when answering whether he would still use Unity: "Laughing, thank you!"

Although Vampire Survivor developer Poncle now has a team together, the game was originally made by independent developer Luca Galante using a free engine called Phaser. After the game became a huge success, the developers spent nearly a year trying to switch to a new engine to improve the game's performance and compatibility. And this engine is Unity. The game engine replacement update was released on August 17, but a month later Unity proposed an "installation fee" charging plan that caused a large number of developers to leave.

Although Unity has now made new plans and apologized, the lost trust cannot be restored, and many developers, including Galante, are still skeptical of Unity. In a recent Reddit forum Q&A, he was asked if he would use Unity to make a Vampire Survivor sequel or other games, and he gave the above-mentioned answer.

He later explained in other replies: "We may not need to change the engine of Vampire Survivor again, but eventually we will be ready when necessary. We will continue to work on the roadmap, but we will also consider different engines in the future."

"Even if Unity fully reverses their decision, I think it would be unwise to trust them with their current senior leadership."
