After Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan announced that he will retire next year, Xbox boss Phil Spencer posted a tribute to him on Twitter. Spencer wrote: "Jim Ryan has been a great contributor to our industry and a strong leader at PlayStation. I wish him all the best in his next endeavors."
"Thank you for everything you have done for the community over the past 30 years, Jim."
Jim Ryan announced on Wednesday that he will step down as CEO and president of Sony Interactive Entertainment in March 2024 after 30 years at Sony.
Hiroki Totoki, president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation, will serve as interim CEO after Ryan steps down.
In his resignation statement, Ryan described the difficulty of balancing family life in Europe and work in North America.
Sony plans to reach the shipment target of 25 million PS5 consoles in the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2024. If achieved, it will break the sales record of 22.6 million units of the original PS console 205 years ago, and will also bring a perfect end to Ryan's career.
