Microsoft's Mikhail Parakhin recently issued a statement confirming suspicions about the limitations of Bing Chat's personalized answers feature. According to Palakin, this unique feature is currently only optimized for Microsoft's own browser Edge.

When asked about compatibility with other popular browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, Parakhin responded: "We are more cautious about other browsers at the moment, yes."

The confusion arose when a user reported experiencing functionality limitations while using Bing Chat on Chrome and Firefox browsers. The user mentioned that only five messages can be sent and chat history cannot be viewed. These issues persist across multiple browsers, devices and even different IP addresses. Surprisingly, this user found solace in Edge and all features seemed to work.

Given user frustration, they contacted a Microsoft spokesperson to ask for clarification on whether this limited functionality on non-Edge browsers was intentional. Parakhin's response seems to hint at Microsoft's strategy of prioritizing the Edge browser, at least for now.

While this announcement may disappoint users who primarily use Chrome or Firefox, it also reveals Microsoft's prioritization of its own browser. Since Palashin's comments leave room for interpretation, it's still uncertain whether this priority will continue indefinitely or expand to other browsers in the future.

For loyal Edge users, this news may not be alarming. However, for those who prefer non-Edge browsers, Microsoft's focus on personalization in its own browser may be seen as an attempt to further entrench users in its ecosystem.
