After the release of "The Lord of the Rings: Gollum", it received a large amount of negative feedback and its reputation collapsed. The developer Daedalic also posted an apology to players on Twitter and promised to continue to improve the game. But now, new news points out that this apology letter was actually written by AI, and the developer Daedalic knew nothing about it.

German game media GameTwo recently interviewed two former Daedalic employees. They said that the apology letter was written using the AI chat software ChatGPT and had not been checked and proofread. They did not know the apology and the content of the apology letter. This was entirely handled by the publisher Nacon.

This would explain some of the apparent errors in the apology letter, such as calling the game "The Lord of Rings: Gollum" when the correct name should be "The Lord of Rings: Gollum".

In addition, they also said in the interview that Daedalic has experienced senior developers, but without financial support, it is difficult for them to create miracles. The development budget of "Lord of the Rings: Gollum" is 15 million euros, which is not much for a AAA game.

Currently, developer Daedalic's internal development department has been shut down, and it will focus on game publishing in the future.
