Google not only promised to provide 7 years of upgrade services for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, but also said that it will reserve spare parts for 7 years. Soniya Jobanputra, director of product management at Google, told the media: "The supply period of parts is seven years. This is part of our commitment." Although Google has not stated that it will provide these spare parts directly to ordinary customers, even if it cannot be purchased directly from Google, many third-party repair and spare parts sales platforms (such as iFixit) will be able to continue to provide repair services to all users.

In addition to Google's own commitment, users' right to repair will also be officially protected by law in Google's "own backyard" - California, USA. California is currently on the verge of signing into law its right-to-repair bill, which requires companies to provide back parts (along with tooling and documentation) for at least seven years "after the last date of manufacture of the product or type." The bill is expected to take effect on July 1, 2024, but the current text of the bill indicates that it will cover all devices sold since July 1, 2021.

Google's seven-year upgrade commitment also includes "operating system, security and feature updates" until 2030.
