Apple Watch Series 9 has been internally redesigned, with the biggest change being the new S9 SIP (system in package). The CPU has 5.6 billion transistors, the GPU is 30% faster and equipped with a quad-core neural engine. This means improvements such as devices handling Siri requests. Thanks to the new Apple Silicon chip, it runs 30% faster. It also features a quad-core Neural Engine that processes neural tasks up to 2x faster and maintains 18 hours of all-day battery life.

Apple Watch Series 9 introduces body temperature sensing and cycle tracking functions, a more powerful gyroscope and high dynamic range accelerometer, and collision detection functions. This smartwatch is also equipped with a second-generation ultra-wideband chip for more precise positioning.

Siri requests are now processed on Apple Watch, which is faster and more secure, and the voice assistant can also access health data for the first time. Thanks to the use of secure device processing technology, the dictation accuracy of the 9th generation is 25% higher than that of the 8th generation.

With UltraWideband support, Apple Watch Series 9 can, for the first time, use the iPhone's pinpoint lookup feature, just like the iPhone can use AirTags.

Series 9 also features a brighter always-on Retina display with up to 2,000 nits brightness, twice as bright as Apple Watch Series 8. It can also reduce the brightness to just 1 nit for theater or night use.

WatchOS 10, which comes pre-installed, is a major overhaul of the operating system, focusing on the widget stack accessed by turning the Digital Crown, as well as significantly updated versions of many core Apple Watch apps. It also brings the Snoopy theme interface that many people like.

Apple Watch Series 9 can be controlled using a new gesture called "DoubleTap", which allows users to tap their thumb and index finger together like using Vision Pro headphones. Using this gesture, users can interact with the device without touching the screen, such as answering or ending calls, stopping timers, snoozing alarms, pausing or playing music, bringing up smart stacks, and more. It does these things by using accelerometers and blood oxygen sensors to look for small changes in movement and blood flow.

Apple Watch Series 9 is available in four new colors: pink, starlight, silver, midnight and PRODUCT (RED). The stainless steel version is available in silver, gold and graphite.
