British aerospace engine giant Rolls-Royce Group is preparing to announce its largest-ever layoffs to streamline the company's structure and prepare for rising demand for large aircraft engines, according to people familiar with the matter. The total number of layoffs will reach 2,000 to 2,500, accounting for approximately 6% of the company's global workforce.

The people asked not to be identified because the plans being discussed have not yet been announced. One of the people said the layoffs target white-collar employees around the world, including senior managers.

Currently, about half of Rolls-Royce's employees are in the UK, 11,000 employees are in Germany, and about 5,500 employees are in the United States.
