Recently, some information about the new Tesla Model Y has been exposed by overseas media, including a previously undisclosed rear view. Although there are rumors that the new Model Y will be released in August, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has hinted on social media that there will be no Model Y facelift this year.

Judging from the exposed spy photos, the exterior design of the new Model Y has not changed much compared with the current model, and it still maintains a sleek and full style. The tail design has been updated. The taillight shape is similar to that of the new Model 3, showing a C shape and connected by bright decorative parts. This design makes the light of the taillight look softer and gentler than common direct light sources.

The design of the rear window of the new Model Y has also changed. Compared with the current model, the new rear window is no longer a completely transparent design. This may mean that the new Model Y will no longer offer a panoramic canopy. Although the panoramic canopy is loved by some consumers for its wide field of view and luxury, it also brings problems of heat insulation and sun protection.

In terms of interiors, spy photos of the new Model Y show that the car uses through-type ambient lighting, imitation carbon fiber panels and a new style steering wheel. These designs enhance the texture and sense of technology of the interior. The design of the center console looks richer, the ambient light strips on the door panels are very conspicuous, and the lining materials have also been updated. However, the door opening method in the car still uses a push-button method.

The gear shifting method and turn signal design are also consistent with the new Model 3, using screen shifting and steering wheel button turn signals. This design may take users some time to adapt. In addition, the exterior rearview mirror of the new Model 3 is small in size and the field of vision is not wide enough. I hope the new Model Y can improve in this regard.

In terms of power configuration, the new Model Y is expected to continue the configuration of the current model. The rear-wheel drive version has a total electric motor power of 220kW, a total torque of 440N·m, and a pure electric cruising range of 554km under CLTC conditions; the long-range all-wheel drive version has a total electric motor power of 331kW, a total torque of 559N·m, and a pure electric cruising range of up to 668km under CLTC conditions.

The Model Y’s classic design has remained virtually unchanged since its debut in 2019. Time flies, five years have passed, but this electric car is still very popular. Just last month, Model Y sold more than 40,000 vehicles. In the past year, sales reached an astonishing more than 460,000 vehicles, ranking first in pure electric vehicle sales. It seems that there is no problem that Model Y can remain popular in the market for two or three years.

The reason why Model Y is so popular is mainly because it has excellent energy consumption control, is smooth and stable to drive, and is relatively affordable. Now, the new Model Y is about to be unveiled, and the product strength will theoretically be improved to a higher level. But even so, Tesla cannot take it lightly. Although the sales data looks beautiful, with the rise of domestic new energy vehicle brands, Tesla's market share is being eroded little by little. For example, models such as SU7 and 007 have strong product capabilities and have begun to seize the market share of Model 3.

Therefore, for the new Model Y, we hope that it will not only be a small upgrade, but also bring some truly eye-catching changes. In this fiercely competitive market, Tesla needs to show more sincerity, not only to maintain its leading position, but also to meet the growing needs and expectations of consumers.
