TikTok is expanding its revamped creator fund, called the Creative Program Beta, beyond the United States. The program is now available to eligible creators in Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. The company began testing the new plan with some creators in February this year.
The "Creative Plan Beta" essentially replaces TikTok's Creator Fund and is designed to create higher income and more real-world opportunities for creators. Creators must be over 18 years old and have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the past 30 days to be eligible to participate in the program.
The company said in an email that eligible creators who post more than one minute of high-quality original content have the potential to earn 20 times more than the previous Creator Fund.
Creators will not be able to return to the Creator Fund program once they join the new program. TikTok did not disclose whether the "Creative Plan" will completely replace the "Creator Fund", but once the "Creative Plan" exits the testing phase, TikTok may cancel the "Creator Fund".
TikTok has previously said that the rewards formula for the Creative Program beta is to provide higher average gross revenue for qualifying video views.
The Creative Plan is part of TikTok’s suite of monetization tools, which includes LIVE subscriptions and TikTokPulse. The company also has tips and gift monetization features, as well as a new series of features that allow eligible creators to publish content behind a paywall. Series enables eligible creators to publish premium content sets behind a paywall that viewers can purchase access to. A series can contain up to 80 videos, with each video being up to 20 minutes long.
