Starting from May 28 this year, the domestically produced large aircraft "C919" built by COMAC has officially started carrying passengers commercially, with 2 aircraft already in service.According to COMAC, the current number of C919 orders has reached 1,061, and 2 have been delivered. With the C919 on track, COMAC has also started the research and development of the next generation aircraft. Recently, Wu Guanghui, chief designer of the C919 and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, revealed some information about the "C929" aircraft.

Currently, the C929 aircraft has entered the preliminary design stage. Wu Guanghui introduced that C929 adopts the green design concept of low fuel consumption, low noise and low emissions, and will adopt a series of means to reduce carbon emissions.

For example, comprehensive modular avionics technology is used to reduce the weight of airborne equipment; advanced aerodynamic technologies such as new generation supercritical wings and variable camber wings are used to improve aerodynamic efficiency; the amount of advanced composite materials is increased to more than 50% to reduce the weight of the aircraft structure; turbofan engines with high bypass ratios and low noise are used and biofuels are widely used to achieve lower fuel consumption during the cruise segment.

Previously, He Dongfeng, Chairman of COMAC, revealed,As a long-range wide-body passenger aircraft, the C929 is planned to provide 250 to 350 seats and has a range of 12,000 kilometers.

Previous news said that C929 completed the first round of demand verification in 2022, with the first batch of aircraft-level and system-level demand verification rates reaching 98%.
