At the annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm Technologies unveiled its long-rumored Snapdragon XElite PC processor. The company promises "a giant leap forward, delivering best-in-class CPU performance," advanced AI processing, "one of the most efficient processors" on the PC market and "days" of battery life.
Qualcomm Snapdragon XElite is a 4nm SoC with 12 high-performance cores and a maximum frequency of 3.8GHz. Two of the cores can push beyond this limit, reaching a top frequency of 4.3GHz. The manufacturer claims that its latest PC chip can double CPU performance at maximum power consumption while reaching the maximum performance of competitors (Intel i7-1360P and i7-1355U) while using 68% less power.
Compared with Intel's high-performance mobile processors, Snapdragon XElite can achieve the same performance level while reducing power consumption by 65%.
The built-in graphics processing unit (GPU) is another area where Snapdragon XElite exerts its power. Its graphics processing speed is twice that of the Intel Core i7-13800H processor, but its power consumption is reduced by 74%, and its performance is equivalent to the Intel Core i7-13800H processor. In terms of display, AdrenoGPU can support up to three external 4K60Hz monitors.
Other features of the Snapdragon
The first batch of computers equipped with the SnapdragonXElite platform are expected to be launched on the market in mid-2024.
