According to a report by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman today, Apple may announce new versions of MacMagic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad at the "ScaryFast" conference on Monday, October 30. The updated accessory is expected to feature a USB-C port for charging instead of a Lightning port.

The accessories will likely be unveiled alongside an upgraded 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip, which Gurman also expects to be released at the event.

Aside from the switch to USB-C, it’s unclear whether there will be any changes to the design of these accessories. The accessories look largely the same as when they were first launched in October 2015, though there have been some minor changes over the years, including a switch to braided cables and new color options only available on the 24-inch iMac. In 2021, Apple also released Magic Keyboard with TouchID button.

While the Magic Mouse lasts about a month or more between charges, the location of the Lightning connector on the bottom of the mouse has been a bit of a laughing stock in the Apple community for years because it prevented the mouse from being used while charging. It's unclear whether the new version's USB-C port will be placed in a less inconvenient location.

All four iPhone 15 models come with USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports. The latest Apple TV Siri remote also comes with a USB-C port, and Apple has discontinued the Lightning port-equipped MagSafe battery pack and MagSafeDuo charger.

Apple's next conference will start at 8 a.m. Beijing time on October 31.
