iPhone 15 models are equipped with Qualcomm's X70 modem chip, which provides faster 5G speeds than the X65 of the previous generation iPhone 14 models. Ookla used data collected by its online Speedtest to measure connection speeds and determined that iPhone 15 models support download speeds that are 54% faster than iPhone 14 models.


Compared with equivalent iPhone 14 models, iPhone 15 Plus download speed is 54% faster, iPhone 15 download speed is 45% faster, iPhone 15 Pro Max download speed is 27% faster, and iPhone 15 Pro download speed is 25% faster.

In Ookla's list of results, the iPhone 15 model has the fastest download speeds among all Apple and Samsung devices. The median download speed of iPhone 15 Pro Max is 285Mb/s, and the performance of fellow students is also good.

The iPhone 15's median download speed of 249Mb/s was the slowest among Apple products, but it was still ahead of Samsung's latest smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Ookla's data covers median download speeds across the United States, and connectivity can vary based on location, proximity to major cities, location of the nearest cell tower, carrier and other factors. The iPhone data shared was collected from September 22 to October 30.

Several other countries have also seen improvements in 5G download speeds, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, India, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
