On March 18, in response to the store's exposure to the "exchange of expired ingredients" for expired ingredients, Wallace's official Weibo issued an apology letter stating that the store involved would be permanently closed and would no longer be open to the public, and the relevant employees involved would be fired.
In addition, from now on, the company will conduct a 30-day health and safety self-inspection and surprise spot inspections in stores across the country, and make public announcements every day to ensure that operating standards are strictly implemented. Proactively cooperate with relevant regulatory authorities to conduct inspections and make timely improvements to discovered problems.
On March 18, Wallace was exposed again for food safety issues. Since February this year, the media randomly conducted undercover interviews at two Wallace stores in Zhengzhou, Henan, and Hefei, Anhui. It was found that both stores frequently modified the "expiry date label" (shelf life date) and used expired ingredients to make meals.
According to the report, at a Wallace store in Zhengzhou, the store manager claimed that all employees’ health certificates, including hers, were fake certificates issued by an agency. “You don’t need to go there, you just need to send me a photo and I can get the health certificate.”
In response, Sina Finance called Wallace's official customer service number, but the call could not be connected.
In fact, this is not the first time that Wallace has been brought into the public eye due to food safety issues. On November 28 last year, a consumer found a foreign object resembling a tail in a burger purchased by Wallace and complained to the Wallace headquarters.
During March 15 this year, topics related to "Cockroaches scurrying around in Wallace's kitchen, flies flying around, and the clerk being indifferent" sparked heated discussions. According to media reports, the sanitary conditions in the Wallace Wuhan Jiangsheng Road store were shocking. Many flies appeared in every corner of the front desk and kitchen, and cockroaches were found next to the oil pan and refrigerator in the kitchen.
According to public information on its website, as of now, the number of Wallace stores has reached 20,000.
