today,Microsoft announces Windows 11andapplicationmany new features, mainly for Copilot+ computers, such asNew Surface Pro 12-inchandSurface Laptop 13 inches. However, if you have a "traditional" computer with an older Intel or AMD processor, you can enjoy some goodies, too.

Microsoft has revealed that Windows 11 will soon get a new Start menu layout, AI actions in File Explorer, and new features for Notepad and Copilot.

The Start menu is getting a major upgrade. After various leaks and hidden features surfaced in preview builds, Microsoft has finally brought an updated Start menu layout with automatic categorization similar to the App Library on iOS. Microsoft has ditched the double-page design in favor of a single scrollable view and a dedicated button for the Phone Link app, which lets you check your phone's status, recent contacts, calls, messages and files.

AI actions in File Explorer will make it easier for you to use AI features, such as content summarization or image editing. Similar to the "Click to Do" feature on Copilot+ PCs, you can access these features simply by right-clicking on a file without opening the file.

Notepad has also received some practical upgrades. Similar to Word, users will be able to assemble text documents or generate text based on prompts for drafting documents or coming up with ideas. As for non-AI features, Notepad will get some new basic formatting tools like bold and italics, headings, tags, and lists. These improvements will make Notepad more similar to the recently retired WordPad.

Upgrades to the Copilot app include a new push-to-talk feature that allows users to enter voice mode simply by holding down the Copilot key. Additionally, Microsoft is bringing back the trigger command, allowing you to invoke Copilot by saying "Hey, Copilot." This feature will soon be available as an optional experience for Windows Insider members.

Copilot Vision for Windows is also coming soon. This feature analyzes the content of your screen and provides insights or answers to help you better understand the situation. Microsoft plans to launch Copilot Vision in the United States soon.
