Google I/Ois the search giant’s annual technology conference designed to showcase the company’s latest innovations. As always, a lot of the conference content was about artificial intelligence, and some of it applies to iOS as well. iOSThe Gemini app is being updated with additional AI smart features, including better-performing Gemini 2.5 Flash and the new Gemini Live camera.

Updates to the app will begin rolling out to users on Tuesday.
The first major change is Gemini 2.5 Flash, an AI model that is faster and uses fewer resources than other models in Google's catalog. For the newly released iOS version, 2.5 Flash performance has been significantly improved.
Based on usage, Gemini 2.5 Flash now uses approximately 25% fewer query terms than previous Gemini app versions. This means it will use fewer query resources or provide better response or lower latency than earlier versions.
In addition to its regular capabilities, Gemini Live comes with the Gemini Live camera, a visual interface for Gemini queries. The camera and screen sharing feature is based on Project Astra and features a full-screen interface that allows users to query based on content within the view.
For example, users can point their iPhone's camera at an object and ask what it is.
Google also plans to add more features to Gemini Live through integration with other Google apps. Google Calendar event links and Google Maps navigation are two features that may be rolling out in the coming weeks.
