Recently, Zeng Dejun, the founder of Elvis Presley Audio, has been involved in public controversy for criticizing Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi. On the evening of June 24, Zeng Dejun posted a video on his WeChat video account and said, "The comments are no longer what we want to say. I feel a little led astray. I didn't expect to bring some unnecessary trouble to Lei Jun and Xiaomi."
Zeng Dejun also clarified in the video, "I have no personal opinion against Xiaomi or Lei Jun, and I have no other intentions. Friends around me also use Xiaomi. Although I don't use it myself, it does not mean that the product is not good. Xiaomi is also an Internet company that has grown over the years and is recognized and liked by everyone. I hope that all of our Chinese companies can continue to move forward and develop and make better and better products on behalf of China."
Zeng Dejun also appealed not to over-interpret his previous remarks, "I hope the media will not use this matter to do something that is contrary to my original intention, or even take my video out of context, over-interpret it, or even distort the rhythm."
Zeng Dejun previously posted a video on June 23 angrily criticizing Lei Jun for "having a high profile online but poor performance in private."
In the video, he said, "I think Lei Jun is terrible. At least you have to be respectful." Zeng Dejun said that more than ten years ago, when he was working on smart speakers, he met with Lei Jun and an investment manager. After waiting for more than half an hour, Lei Jun was dissatisfied with the project and left decisively by saying, "What are smart speakers for? Let's not waste time on them." Zeng Dejun thought Lei Jun had "no respect."
Zeng Dejun said, "You invited me here, and I paid for the travel and accommodation expenses myself. Although I am willing to do this, you are the boss of this company and I am your guest, right? Shake your hand with a smile. I'm sorry, we don't need it for the time being. At least this is the minimum principle of your life... So until now, I don't have a Xiaomi product in my house."
He also said, "Even though the smart speaker became popular later and they came back to me, even though I was as disgusted as eating a fly before, I still politely refused them."
