According to the latest revelation from well-known whistleblower Golden Pig Upgrade, AMD is secretly developing a new notebook processor based on the Zen 5 architecture and equipped with 3D V-Cache technology. The chip is planned to be named Ryzen 7 9800HX3D. Although there have been rumors that it will be named Ryzen 7 9755HX3D, the final naming strategy shows that AMD is trying to make it the most cost-effective 3D V-Cache mobile option in the mid-to-high-end gaming market.

AMD's 3D V-Cache technology, which has been highly sought after by players, has always been limited to desktop-level socket CPUs. On the mobile side, only the top flagship Ryzen 9 9955HX3D has been supported before - the latter has 16 cores and 32 threads, 5.4GHz turbo frequency and 128MB L3 cache. Most of them are installed in top-end high-end game notebooks priced at more than 2,000 US dollars. The threshold for ordinary players is extremely high.
The Ryzen 7 9800HX3D exposed this time uses an 8-core 16-thread specification design with a maximum operating frequency of 5.1GHz, which is lower than the 12-core 9850HX. However, the processor is equipped with an L3 cache of up to 96MB, which is expected to directly surpass the 9850HX with a cache of only 64MB under specific game loads. At the same time, the price of the whole machine is also expected to drop significantly.
Sources revealed that AMD plans to start mass production of Ryzen 7 9800HX3D in the fourth quarter of 2026. Although the chip may debut on a small scale before the end of the year, it is more likely to be officially released at CES 2027. With the launch of this product, AMD not only provides players with a more cost-effective choice of high-performance handheld games, but also injects strong competitive chips into the mobile gaming CPU market that has long been dominated by Intel.
