We've reported several times on the Asahi Linux project, which aims to bring Linux support to Apple Silicon MacBooks and desktops. A large part of this arduous task involves reverse engineering underlying items such as graphics drivers. Alyssa Rosenzweig was responsible for developing the open source Mesa OpenGL/Vulkan driver for the Asahi Linux project, but she recently announced her departure from the project and revealed that she is working on Intel's HPG team.

Now, Rosenzweig has updated her resume to include “designing open source graphics drivers for Intel GPUs.” Rosenzweig's responsibilities at Intel include developing Vulkan and OpenGL drivers for Intel GPUs on Linux, and appears to have a particular focus on gaming.

This may indicate that Intel is planning to enhance the development and performance of its Linux graphics driver, which has slightly inconsistent performance on Intel Arc dGPU. In reviews, the B580 easily beat GPUs like the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 on Windows, but on Linux the B580 lagged far behind its peers in many cases.
Many games have also improved significantly since the B580's launch, but Intel appears to be working on improving this performance even further with driver improvements.
