Just one day after releasing the first developer beta version of iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2, Apple has stopped signing the system version for iPhone Air, iPhone 16e and the latest M5 cellular version of iPad Pro, which means these devices cannot install the update.

It’s unclear why Apple made this decision, but the three devices mentioned above all use C1 or C1X modem chips, a new generation of cellular communications chips developed by Apple. Some analysts believe that Apple may have discovered specific bugs related to this chip in iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2, thereby preventing users who have not yet upgraded from being affected.
For users who have joined the iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 developer testing program, system updates for these devices will still be displayed, but they can no longer be installed.
It is unclear how long it will take Apple to resolve this issue, and it is expected that a revised beta version will be released later for devices equipped with C1 and C1X chips.
Industry analyst Max Weinbach said his iPad Pro had problems when upgrading this update and was forced into recovery mode, but successfully restored it to iPadOS 26.1 version.
As of the evening of the update, Apple has completely withdrawn this version update for the corresponding device. iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 Beta 1 are no longer shown as available updates on the above devices.
