Google is in preliminary negotiations to deepen investment cooperation with Anthropic. According to sources, this new round of financing may value Anthropic at more than $350 billion. Negotiations are still ongoing and the details have not been finalized. The cooperation method may also include Google providing more cloud computing services to Anthropic, convertible bonds, or a new round of pricing financing early next year. It's unclear how much money Google will invest in this round or whether other investors will participate.

Anthropic and Google declined to comment.

Google has previously invested more than $3 billion in Anthropic, which gave Google a 14% stake in Anthropic, according to the New York Times citing legal documents in March. In September 2025, Anthropic completed US$13 billion in financing at a valuation of US$138 billion. Anthropic’s main competitor, OpenAI, last month let employees sell shares through a round of secondary stock transactions, valuing the company at $500 billion.

This round of negotiations comes as Anthropic and OpenAI compete for dominance in the field of basic AI models with a market value of trillions of dollars. In this race, large technology companies are clearly divided into two factions. Amazon and Google support Anthropic, while Microsoft and NVIDIA invest in OpenAI.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees. Its most famous product is the Claude series of large language models. In October this year, Google and Anthropic announced a cloud computing cooperation agreement worth tens of billions of dollars, allowing Anthropic to use up to 1 million of Google's self-developed TPUs (tensor processing units) designed to accelerate machine learning workloads.

In addition, Amazon has invested US$14 billion in Anthropic, which uses AWS custom chips to build and deploy its AI models. Anthropic said last month it would continue its partnership with Amazon, a major training and cloud service provider. Amazon's Rainier project is one of the world's largest AI computing clusters. It was recently launched and has nearly 500,000 Trainium2 chips to provide computing support for the Claude series models.

In addition, Anthropic will use NVIDIA's GPUs to train and run its models.
