America’s top YouTuber, MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) has co-founded ViewStats, a new analytics platform that is now available in beta. Similar to tools like SocialBlade, ViewStats uses the YouTube API to publish detailed channel statistics that are visible to creators and their fans.
It's no accident that MrBeast is one of the highest-paid creators. He pays meticulous attention to every detail of his videos—he recently conducted an A/B test to see whether his videos performed better with thumbnails with the mouth open or thumbnails with the mouth not open (apparently, thumbnails with the mouth closed were superior). So if he thinks certain metrics are must-haves for an analytics platform, then those metrics are likely important.
ViewStats, co-founded with MrBeast creator Chucky Appleby, stands out because of its star power. Celebrity-backed startups aren't always as popular as they seem, but in this case, star power still can't be underestimated. At that time, I, MrBeast, moderated a panel discussion about understanding the YouTube algorithm. The seats filled up quickly, and many people even stood at the door and couldn't get in. Video creators, regardless of genre, want to hear from the king of algorithms.
Like SocialBlade, ViewStats displays basic information like subscriber counts, monthly ad revenue estimates, video views, and how these data fluctuate over a specific time period. ViewStats is also available as a Chrome browser extension. Appleby said the platform will add more tools in the future, including a thumbnail analysis tool. It's unclear how the platform plans to make money, but SocialBlade does so by paying for some of the more advanced analytics.
According to Tubefilter, ViewStats is a separate company from MrBeast, LLC. Both MrBeast and CEO Appleby are funding the company with their own money.
