It is reported that Alibaba’s chip company Pingtou Ge is planning to go public independently.

People close to the market said that Alibaba Group has decided to support its chip company Pingtouge to be independently listed in the future. Pingtou Ge is a wholly-owned chip company under Alibaba Group. Since its establishment in 2018, it has been very low-key in the industry. It is Alibaba’s “nuclear weapon” that has been hidden for many years. Now the Pingtou Ge chip has officially surfaced.

Alibaba did not comment on the news.

In September 2025, a frame of CCTV's "News Broadcast" about Alibaba's self-developed chip attracted great attention and gave the outside world a glimpse of Pingtou's strength. The report shows that this GPU chip named PPU has 96GB of HBM2e memory, an inter-chip interconnection bandwidth of 700GB/s, a PCIe 5.0×16 interface, and a power consumption of only 400W. In these key parameters, it has completely surpassed NVIDIA A800 and mainstream domestic GPUs, and its overall performance is comparable to NVIDIA H20.

According to foreign media reports, the performance of the first-generation PPU developed by Pingtou Ge is comparable to NVIDIA's best-selling H20, while the upgraded PPU performance is stronger than NVIDIA A100. Due to its excellent and stable performance and outstanding cost-effectiveness, Pingtouge PPU chips have a good reputation in the industry and are in short supply in the market.

Up to now, Pingtou Ge has launched AI inference chip Hanguang 800, CPU Yitian 710 and AI chip PPU in the field of computing chips. In the field of storage chips, it has launched SSD main control chip Zhenyue 510. In the field of network chips, it is said that it will also launch related chips, and has laid out full-stack chips for data centers. Pingtou Ge also launched the Feather IoT chip in the terminal side chip, which has achieved hundreds of millions of shipments and its layout covers the cloud and terminals.

Industry insiders believe that Alibaba and Google will lead the development of AI in China and the United States because both have full-stack layouts from AI chips, cloud computing, large models to AI applications. In Google’s AI layout, self-developed chip TPU is an important part. With the start of the listing process, Pingtou Ge's strength accumulated over the years in the field of underlying chips has finally emerged, and the last piece of the puzzle of Alibaba's AI full-stack layout has emerged.
